Amiright? I mean my heart & good intentions were all in the right place when I decided to hand knit all of my Christmas gifts this year. Some of which not only had to be knit but also wrapped and then shipped to the lucky recipients. All of which takes time & unfortunately time was not on my side this year!
It’s all good though because as I procrastinated worked diligently in the days months before Christmas I found I had lots of beautiful yarn left over to make some matching mittens because who doesn’t like a nice set of matching winter wear? Ok, well me for one but I’m sure my grandchildren feel differently. Only time will tell…and by “time” I mean the time it will take me to actually finish these matching mittens ( I’ve made one single mitten thus far) & shipped them along with the hats to the kids for Christmas New Year or Valentine’s Day …..hmmmmm I wonder if these will fit them next year…..

Right you are! The answer is me.
Well maybe not but I have been knitting at lightening speed in an attempt to finish all of my handmade Christmas gifts for the fam. While that does not make me superman woman it does make me happy! The only problem I have when knitting presents for others is I want to keep them for myself! I always have the good intention to whip up an extra for me but honestly that never happens.

Knit washable wool beanie hats for The G-doodles. I think this one is in need of a fluffy pink Pom-Pom. Fingers crossed it fits! I’m currently working on a matching pair of mittens & two more kids hats for the boys. hoping they also fit 😉

The boys hats look like this at the moment

This beautiful scarf is still on the needles. Can’t wait to finish & block it. So far I am in love with everything about it!

There’s more but I will share all of my finished projects eventually. For now enjoy this awesome iPad capture of these amazing strawberries ;). Seriously. They are delicious!

A knit hat for the hubs.
His birthday is next month. Every year he asks for a hat & every year I promise myself (& him) that I will make him one. I’ve resorted to purchasing store brand knits in an attempt to appease him. In case you’re wondering, that totally did not work.
This year I honored my promise & actually hand knit him the most awesome pure wool hat ever! I love it! More importantly (I guess) , HE loves it AND I managed to make & gift it an entire month before his actual birthday! Go me! 😉
ok, so I’m a little impatient when it comes to handmade surprises.
Poor guy couldn’t even get all the way in the door from work before I shoved the bundle under his nose fully expecting him to open it, put it on right away & wear it for the rest of the evening so that I could stare at the hat him all night admiring my handiwork him wearing his hat.
In case you’re wondering, he did that for me. He’s a keeper for sure!

Have you ever search hi-n-lo for that perfect knit/crochet pattern only to find ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! I mean not one single pattern worthy of the fantastical idea you have in mind? Yeah, me too. Don’t get me wrong there are some gorgeous patterns available online & some are graciously shared for free by the artists. Just not the one I wanted today 🙂

I have an awesome original idea for a knitted cable pattern that has probably been made before but really wanted someone else an experienced knitter to provide me a free pattern. Ho-hum.

While I consider myself a newbie in the world of knit I have thrown caution to the wind and decided if I want something done right I’m just gonna have to do it myself. So that’s what I’m doing today!
If I am successful I will share the pattern on this blog to save others from similar expense aggravation.
Fingers & toes crossed (ew, right!)

Whoa!  Feels like I’ve been gone for a week!  Oh, wait a minute, I have been gone for a week!   I seriously don’t know how that happened except to say  I’ve been a busy little  bee lately.  While I did not finish up my Blog Every Day in May quest I do not feel like a failure at all.  I made it through  three memorable weeks of posting.  That’s some sorta accomplishment!

This past week I decided to jot down some of my crochet patterns to sell in my shop.  Patterns will be the only item offered for now until life slows down a bit.     At this moment in time I have two testers who generously offered to lend a  hook hand  and test my patterns for errors and whatnot.     I am sure I will have some exciting developments to share with you soon.

Enjoy a few quick IPad snaps – crochet edgings & doily I worked up this past weekend.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!  I am off to enjoy a cuppa while catching up on a few great reads here!

“If you could talk to your thirteen year old self what would you say?”

Some words of wisdom:   Although sometimes you may feel lost in the crowd know you are blessed to have been born into a family surrounded by lifetime friends in the making!  Siblings understand you like no other, support you regardless of the circumstance and truly love and care for you.  Try to return these favors with gratitude and kindness. Your sisters will always  have your back with the very best of intentions.  They are now and always will  be your very best friends!

I was a little older than 13 at this time…thinking around 20yrs.

good times, good times!

Be especially kind to your parents no matter how irritating they may seem at your age. Someday you will not have the opportunity to let them know how much you truly appreciate and love them for everything they do & for the supportive loving parents that they are. Understand that they are not perfect.  Consider the fact that Mom and Dad are making many sacrifices for you & your siblings to enjoy all the fruits of their hard labor.

The best parents in the universe on their wedding day.
Love them both so much!
Dad passed on in 1990 from brain cancer. I miss him so much every single day. I am very fortunate that I had the opportunity to spend time with him and tell him how much I love him before he left us. RIP my dear Dad!

Cleaning your room is really not that big of a deal when you consider the time and energy your parents place into raising you.  Be grateful & appreciative.
