I have many years of experience in the art of crochet. All thanks to my very patient, loving & wonderfully talented mother who not only selflessly raised 7 children but also instilled in each of us an appreciation & love for all things art.

Knitting on the other hand is a newer adventure for me. My very first ever knit project was a cabled scarf. Being the adventurer I am, I decided on cables because well, that’s just how I roll. Although I do not possess any photographic evidence of that first knit project as I have since gifted it, you’ll have to take my word for it when I say it turned out beautifully. Therein began my love of all things knit.

Shortly thereafter I put the needles away for a while in pursuit of other craft & life related activities. I’ll admit I have a tendency to become bored very easily which is one of the reasons I enjoy a good challenge. The more frustratingly difficult the more appealing it is to me.

Speaking of challenges, just recently I was asked to knit a pair of socks. Hmmm never knit socks before but thought to myself ‘really how hard can it be
Turns out it’s actually not difficult at all. However, knitting a pair of socks is about as much fun as ….well I can’t even think of anything more tedious.
To say I am not enjoying knitting these socks would be a gross understatement. I should mention here that my dislike is in no way a reflection of the designer/artist of sock patterns or people who enjoy knitting socks. I’m guessing my lack of enthusiasm is completely a result of my need for instant gratification & lack of ability to sit still for long periods of time.
It is taking forever to complete this pair mainly because after finally finishing the first, I’ve been avoiding knitting the 2nd as though it were the plaque. My house is spotless but these socks are not done!
I actually contemplated shipping this one single sock & claiming the other must have been lost in the mail. Last night though I begrudgingly began working the matching sock to make up the pair.
I am counting down the hours to completion.
I’m pretty sure it is safe to say I will not be attempting any new knit sock projects for a while.
When if I do though, I have my eye on these amazing socks from 15 year old designer Josiah over at The Sock Monkey. .

My sister recently asked me to knit her a sweater. If anyone is looking for me I will be avoiding my sister like the plague……
